How to check out any HVAC contractor

Reviews are one signal. These checks take a few minutes and tell you more:

License. Connecticut requires a heating/cooling license — look it up on the state's eLicense site. Airmax holds CT license HTG.0414617-D1.
Refrigerant certification. Anyone handling refrigerant needs EPA Section 608 certification. Our technicians are EPA 608 Universal certified.
Insurance. Ask for a certificate of insurance before work starts.
A written estimate. It should name the equipment, the scope of work and what is not included. Ours are free.
Sizing. For new equipment, ask how the size was chosen. A load calculation beats "same size as the old one".
